Youtheme Online enters into distribution agreement with Andaman Publications Sdn. Bhd.to distribute their unique educational products - e-Tutor and e-Workbook in secondary schools on March 1st 2008.

Youtheme Online to roll out PIL with DGB Education

Working with DGB Education Sdn. Bhd., Youtheme Online has got 2 of its IT trainers being certified as Trainer-of-the-trainer for Microsoft Desktop Skills training, an initiative by Microsoft Partners in Learning (PIL) grant.

We will soon be working with DGB Education Sdn. Bhd. to roll PIL to secondary schools in Malaysia.

Background

Microsoft recognizes that fundamental change takes both time and a consistent application of resources. Our aim is to help create sustainable models for education through long-term partnerships with governments as well as primary and secondary schools. Through the Partners in Learning program, these partnerships offer schools, teachers, and administrators a spectrum of educational resources, including tools, programs, and practices. Here are some examples of Partners in Learning programs:

• The Partners in Learning Grants Program provides grants to help create sustainable models for improving the use and understanding of technology by both teachers and students. Current grants have supported the establishment of local Microsoft IT Academy Centers through partnerships with educational institutions.
• The Fresh Start for Donated Computers program provides donated computers to K-12 schools. Having access to computers is an economic necessity for any educational program; however, donated PCs often lack properly installed or licensed operating systems. Fresh Start provides schools with licenses for Microsoft Windows at no charge, so that the schools can effectively use the donated PCs.
• The School Agreement Subscription Licensing Program provides academic pricing for schools and, therefore, an easier way to manage valuable technology resources under the Microsoft School agreement. In addition, Partners in Learning offers eligible* primary and secondary schools the opportunity to receive even lower pricing for Microsoft Office XP Professional and Windows XP Professional Upgrade licenses through the Microsoft School Agreement.

SEG International Bhd pledges RM2 million to help schools through Youtheme Online

SEG International Berhad has accepted Youtheme Online's invitation to become its first National Sponsor for our flagship project - the Youtheme Online School & Youth Community. By doing so, SEG International pledges RM2 million under its Corporate Social Responsibility program, in supporting the project to benefit its participating schools and youths.

During the auspicious Youtheme Online launching on July 23rd 2007, SEG International's President Dato' (Dr) Patrick Teoh Seng Foo presented a mock cheque of RM2 million to Youtheme Online's CEO, Mr. Adrian Chai and this was witness by Dato' Seri Ong Ka Ting, President of MCA and Minister of Housing and Local Government, together with Dato' Clement Hii, CEO of SEG Internationl and Mr. Lee Kok Cheng, COO of SEG International and Principal of SEGi College Malaysia.

RM1 million out of the RM2 million will be in the form of scholarships offered to Youtheme Online's members to aid those qualified students in pursuing their tertiary education with SEG International. The other RM 1 million will be utilized as funds and resources rendered to help secondary school to have access to fully sponsored ICT facilities, to name a few: Educational technology for school administrative management, e-Learning platforms, and systems & ICT trainings provided to teachers and students.

At every stage in deployment, dedicated leaders will need to provide direction and sustain momentum. Indeed, this will probably be the single most important factor determining the pace of deployment and the level of success in capturing the underlying benefits of connection to the information superhighway.

As technology enabler, we have already taken the first step to provide no cost or almost FOC technologies, reducing the disincentives to entering the school market. Apart from us, different levels of leadership is needed to drive YouTHeme successfully, including politicians, funders, and community leaders. This represents a new partnership that cut across the boundaries of the public and private sectors, as well as across local, state, and national lines.

• Ladies and Gentlemen:

First of all, I would like to welcome all of you to our newly opened SEGi College Malaysia campus for witnessing the launch of Youtheme Online School & Youth Community, a project aiming to produce a connected school and youth portal to accommodate school ICT needs, youth aspiration, expression, actualization and youth creativity. I strongly believe, this project will support the government's plans to obtain the status of a developed nation by the year 2020 and to gain a competitive edge with other developed countries in the global economy.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Building online youth community and bridging internet technology to schools require not only an effective model, but also having adequate financial resources to sustain it. Similarly, in Malaysia, we only have few initiatives to train and support locals such reform. Therefore, business leaders of today have much opportunities and could contribute to the effective use of technology in school and for youth development.

SEGi, as one of the largest institutes of higher education in Malaysia, is constantly striking a fine balance between business and corporate social responsibilities, we have made it our business in making higher education accessible to all and are always on the lookout to find ways to reach out to youths, particularly secondary school students, to inform them of higher education opportunities. Youtheme Online School and Youth Community project offers us the great opportunity to achieve these objectives.

SEGi is favourable with Youtheme’s concept of benefiting education and the students’ communities to increase learning opportunities and employ-ability, and bridging the digitally divided by providing fully subsidized technology such as School Information Management System, e-Learning tools, and collaborative web portal. We have here today the latest school to join Youtheme family of 20 pilot schools, SMK La Salle PJ attending today’s event. Students, most of you will soon be sitting for the SPM examinations. It is time now to think of your future and what programme you are interested in to achieve your dream career. SEGi has over 100 programmes, and on top of that, millions worth in scholarships to be given out to deserving students. Youtheme Online was launched!

The Youtheme Online School & Youth Community, a project to provide connection and interaction between schools (secondary and tertiary) and youth organizations to enhance collaboration among administrators, teachers, parents, and youths, was launched on 23^rd July 2007 in SEGi Kota Damansara Campus by Y.B. Dato' Seri Ong Ka Ting, Minister of Housing and Local Government, and President of MCA.

Youtheme Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Chai said one of its objectives was to provide access to technological resources where inequalities exist, allowing free access to all sorts of computing technologies in an environment supportive of learning and interaction to its participating schools or youth organizations.

"We aim to foster thinking, knowledge creation, and innovation culture in decision-making and participation, as well as to inculcate Malaysian values among youths to produce a generation of caring, peace-loving and environmentally-concerned citizens, whilst being technology savvy," he said.

Chai said schools and youth organizations could have a free portal incorporating School Information Management Software, e-Learning Software, and Portal Software, serving as a platform for all stakeholders, among other things, school administration, correspondence, collaboration, and e-learning.

"Building online youth community and bridging internet technology to schools and youth organizations require not only an effective model, but also having adequate financial resources to sustain it. Youtheme.org is able to provide fully subsidized technology to our participating schools and youth organizations thanks to corporate leaders like SEGi, contributing in terms of sponsorship to the effective use of technology in school and for youth development." He added.

"Currently, 20 schools have joined Youtheme in the pilot run, and 60 other schools have shown interest," he told a press conference after the launch. Earlier, SEG International Berhad President Dato' (Dr) Patrick Teoh Seng Foo handed over RM2 million to Youtheme Online Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Adrian Chai as sponsorship for Youtheme.

進行高生產力活動 青少年應善用網絡

黃家定也是馬華總會長，他今日在這裡為青少年網絡服務公司Youtheme Online私人有限公司主持推介禮后說，青少年應善用網絡技術，進行更具生產力的活動。

他說，現今青少年經常從網上下載音樂及影片等，不是說這些是不良活動，但希望他們進行一些可帶來更高生產力的活動。

他今日在世紀學院（SEGi College）為青少年網絡服務公司Youtheme Online私人有限公司主持推介禮后，這么說。

出席推介禮的嘉賓尚有世紀國際教育集團總裁拿督張成富博士 (Dato Patrick Teoh Seng Foo)、總執行長拿督許志國、總營運長李國清，及Youtheme Online私人有限公司總營運長潘文麟。

潘文麟說，該公司推出的Youtheme網站主要是把國內中學、大專院校和青年組織的青少年結合起來，加強他們的通訊和社區活動，協助他們塑造更廣的思維及知識創意等。

他說，參與組織都可獲得免費服務，因為該公司是向大企業籌資，協助向來欠缺資金的有關團體進一步發展。目前已有20所學校參與，另有60所學校表明有興趣。

世紀國際教育集團決定撥款200萬令吉贊助上述活動，張成富 (Dato' (Dr) Patrick Teoh Seng Foo) 也在推介禮上移交支票給蔡思灵。
